1. PROJECT OVERVIEW
The contractor shall provide and install new casework, electrical and plumbing fixtures. The contractor shall furnish all labor and materials for the described project in strict conformity with safety, standards, laws, statutes and ordinances for a chemical/biological research laboratory biosafety level 2 (BSL2) in a federal facility.
Contractors are strongly encouraged to visit the site prior to bidding. Failure to visit the site will not relieve bidders from full responsibility for a complete job as specified. A proposed lab layout drawing is provided in the appendix. Part numbers are Mott Manufacturing numbers and are for equipment identification only, however, equipment provided shall be equivalent to Mott Manufacturing products or equal. A parts list of items to be provided for this project, excluding fillers and scribes, is located in the appendix.
1.1 BACKGROUND
The National Peanut Research Lab is requesting a price quote for the installation of new cabinets in lab space, building 4 located at 1011 Forrester Dr. S. E., Dawson, GA. 39842. This is being done in order to replace defective casework and to accommodate new research.
1.2 CUSTOMERS / END USERS IMPACTED
There is no one working in the lab room currently. Labs need to be completed before new research is started.
1.3 CONTRACTOR RESONSIBILITIES
• All work shall comply with existing local, state, and national codes, including guidelines and specifications included in the Americans with Disabilities Act. All work shall also meet the requirements of the ARS Facilities and Design Standards (P&P 242.1) which can be provided upon request. All work shall be accomplished in a professional manner and in accordance with good workmanship and acceptable practice.
• Contractor is responsible for inspecting the site and determining the exact dimensions of the project. The contractor shall provide overhead and cabinet placement drawings, showing part numbers with the bid submittal. Contractor shall submit the design, descriptive literature, and written specifications for all materials and supplies to be used in the bid.
• Contractor’s working hours shall be scheduled to coincide with the normal working hours at the site from 8am-4:30pm. Should it be necessary to schedule working hours other than normal working hours, contractor shall arrange for access to the work area with the LM at least three days prior to the need.
• Contractor shall notify the LM and schedule utility outages at least 24 hours in advance.
• The contractor will be responsible for replacing at their cost any property damaged at the site during the construction process.

• All electrical work including the sizing of conductor for circuit load, conduit size, conduit run, and wire connections must be in accordance to the most recent National Electrical Code (NEC).
• All plumbing must be in accordance with the most recent Plumbing Code.
All lab casework and tops shall meet Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA) specs.
Casework color shall be cool white or very close color.
1.4 GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• The drawings provided are concept drawings. The cabinet part numbers are Mott Manufacturing Ltd.
part numbers for reference only.
• Govt. will paint rooms and repair floors prior to installation work of contractor.
• All floors that need to be repaired and tiled shall be completed by government personnel.
2. DETAILED SCOPE
1-The contractor shall provide and install all new casework, to include 28 base cabinets, 11 wall cabinets, two (2) sink cabinets, (4) knee space assemblies, two (2) sets island shelving with three (3) tiers of shelves each, one (1) island umbilical, and all required fillers and scribes, electrical outlets necessary for complete installation in Bldg. 4 per proposed layout drawing. This shall include final mechanical, plumbing and electrical connections.
2-All counter tops shall be epoxy resin or Trespa Top Lab Plus (green product) 1’ thick black work surface with integral drip groove with 4” high applied backsplash. Provide two (2) 25”X15”X10” epoxy resin drop-in sinks.
3-Provide water saver service fixtures and fittings to include two (2) H/C mixing faucets, two (2) DI faucets, and 18 gas service cocks with all required mounting hardware. All valves shall be mounted in locations shown on proposed layout drawing unless specified otherwise.
4-Provide approximately 80’ of wall mounted electrical raceway with couplings, end caps, duplex covers, and GFI covers. Raceway shall include 64 120-volt 20-amp commercial grade black duplex outlets, four (4) GFCI 120-volt 20-amp commercial grade black outlets and four (4) E633PB-WS or equal double gang, double face pedestal boxes with duplex receptacles installed on ten (10) circuits for wall raceway and two
(2) circuits for island. All electrical work must be installed in accordance with the most recent National Electrical Code (NEC). The electrical raceway above counter shall be Legrand 3300 series aluminum raceway or equal. If an equivalent metal wire mold is going to be used, its use must first be pre-approved by the end user. Building 4 electrical comes from panel located in lab space.
5-Provide new black cove base moldings on walls and base cabinets.
6-Provide painted steel fume hood assembly to include fume hood superstructure with one (1) each Gas, Air, and Vacuum integral service fitting pre-piped to top, low-flow alarm, light switch, electrical receptacles pre-wired to top, ceiling enclosure, one (1) each acid storage and flammable base cabinet, all fillers, and exhaust fan with duct work and scribes necessary for a complete installation.

3. PROJECT SCHEDULE
Project duration is 60 days from Notice to Proceed.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL INCLUDE IN BID
1. Shop drawings illustrating the layout and placement of all laboratory casework, fume hood and all products proposed for the contract. Drawings shall include type and location of all service fittings, sinks and associated supply connections.
2. Preparation instructions and recommendations documents.
3. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
4. Narrative describing technical approach.
5. List of proposed subcontractors.
6. Past performance references for similar work.
7. Preliminary schedule
8. Cut sheets from proposed manufacturer of casework, valves, faucets and any other items used in installation.
