About this file
The document is a site plan for the McCarthy Park Playground project in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, prepared as Addendum #2 following a vendor meeting on 4/25/2024. The site plan details the proposed playground layout, including a 6-foot wide sidewalk that must meet ADA slope and cross-slope requirements, a 4-foot by 9-foot bench pad, and space for two benches to be provided by the County. The plan specifies a 12-inch wide by 9-inch deep curbing for the playground container, with flexibility in border layout based on proposed equipment placement.
The site plan emphasizes accessibility, noting that while a uniform slope is preferred, topographic relief is acceptable if ADA compliance is maintained. If grade changes exceed ADA requirements, alternative routes within the play area should be considered to ensure users can access all equipment. The document includes topographical contour lines and indicates the location of a proposed biofilter, with the overall design focusing on creating an inclusive and functional playground space that meets accessibility standards for diverse users.

Feet 0 20 40 curbing shall be 12-inch wide x 9-inch deep - layout of playground container/border can vary from shown based on use area of proposed equipment
4-ft x 9-ft bench pad all sidewalk to be 6-ft wide, alternate alignment will be considered, must meet ADA slope and cross-slope space for two benches on proposed sidewalk, no additional pad required, all benches to be provided by the County
Addendum #2 - Summary from 4/25/2024 Vendor Meeting uniform slope is anticipated, however topographic relief in proposed design is acceptable so long as proposed grades are ADA compliant without handrails OR if exceeding ADA requirements for running/cross-slopes alternate routes within the play area should be considered in the design and these grade changes should not impede on the ability of users to access other parts of the equipment.
