About this file
This document is a specification attachment for RFx 3000024461, involving the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC) at Dixon Correctional Institute. The project involves removing an existing outdoor freezer/cooler and installing a new walk-in freezer/cooler combination unit in Compound 4, located at 5568 Highway 68 in Jackson, LA. The contractor is required to provide all labor, materials, and equipment for the installation, including a temporary refrigerated trailer during the work period, which is estimated to take two weeks. The new unit will consist of two compartments: a holding freezer with internal dimensions of 10' x 11'2" x 7'9 7/8" capable of maintaining temperatures down to -10 degrees, and a holding cooler with identical dimensions maintaining temperatures at 35 degrees.
The specification details extensive technical requirements for the freezer/cooler, including specific wall, floor, and ceiling construction using aluminum and acrylume materials, insulated with UL-listed Class 1 foam. The refrigeration systems are customized, with specific requirements for condensing units, compressors, and unit coolers, including voltage specifications, refrigerant type (R448), and performance metrics. The contractor must adhere to specific institutional protocols, including vehicle and personnel searches, working hours of Monday-Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, and compliance with Department of Corrections policies. Bidders are required to specify alternative brands for various specified components and must be prepared for a post-contract execution facility staff conference before commencing work.
