The USGS Earthquake Hazards Program (CFDA 15.807) anticipates awarding $4 million to $7 million total in FY 2027 to support approximately 50 to 70 new competitive research grants, with individual awards typically ranging from $30,000 to $120,000. Eligible applicants include public and private colleges and universities, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, state and local governments, and unaffiliated scientists. Award notification occurs through grant or cooperative agreement from a USGS contracting officer via FedConnect, with an approval timeframe of 5 to 9 months. Applications are submitted through Grants.gov using the SF-424 form and are evaluated by expert panels on scientific merit, technical quality, principal investigator competence, relevance to program goals, and budget appropriateness. All financial records must be maintained for 3 years after submission of the final financial report.
