About this file

This is a requirement document establishing the Project Abstract Summary (PAS) specifications for Department of the Interior financial assistance awards. The PAS must be submitted alongside proposals via Grants.gov and will be publicly posted on USAspending.gov in compliance with OMB Memoranda M-21-20 and M-22-02. The document specifies that applicants must organize their abstract using the following sections: project title, award purpose in plain language, activities to be performed, deliverables and expected outcomes, intended beneficiaries, and subrecipient activities if applicable. The PAS is limited to one page or fewer with a maximum of approximately 4,000 characters, using 12-point Times New Roman font.

The associated federal grant opportunity is a Cooperative Agreement for Affiliated Partner with the Great Lakes Northern Forest CESU, administered by the USGS Fort Collins Science Center under the USGS Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808). The cooperative agreement funds research on long-term bumble bee demography with emphasis on the imperiled rusty patched bumble bee (Bombus affinis), including site surveys for population trend documentation, novel monitoring technologies, sampling methodology assessment, and bumble bee demography data compilation. The research is intended to produce management-relevant products supporting imperiled bumble bee recovery strategies for DOI and land-management partners. Awards under this program typically range from $40,000 to $500,000 with performance periods of one to five years, with proposals evaluated on scientific excellence and relevance to USGS mission priorities.
