About this file
The document is an Attachment C describing the Project Abstract Summary Requirement for the Department of the Interior, specifically aligned with a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) cooperative agreement for invasive plant research. The Project Abstract Summary must be one page or less (approximately 4,000 characters), using 12-point Times New Roman font, and must include six specific sections: project title, plain language description, award purpose, activities to be performed, deliverables and expected outcomes, and intended beneficiaries.
The related federal grant opportunity is a cooperative agreement focused on developing environmentally friendly bioherbicides to control invasive Phragmites australis, targeting microbial endophytes to enhance plant stress tolerance and create low-toxicity treatment options. The project falls under USGS Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808), aims to generate new strategies for combating invasive species, and builds upon previous research with existing patent applications. The collaborative effort seeks to reduce invasive plant competitive abilities through innovative microbiological approaches, with potential commercial applications and broader implications for invasive species management across agricultural, range, and natural lands.
