About this file
This document is an Attachment C detailing the Project Abstract Summary Requirement for the Department of the Interior, specifically related to a USGS Cooperative Agreement for bat research. The requirement mandates that all financial assistance awards include a one-page Project Abstract Summary (maximum 4000 characters) with specific sections: project title, plain language description, award purpose, planned activities, expected deliverables and outcomes, intended beneficiaries, and potential subrecipient activities.
The associated federal grant opportunity is a Cooperative Agreement with the Pacific Northwest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, focused on researching bat distribution, activity, and disease status on two US Navy properties in Washington and Idaho. The research aims to assess bat communities' presence and white-nose syndrome (WNS) prevalence, specifically at Jim Creek Naval Radio Station and Bayview Acoustic Research Detachment. The grant falls under USGS Research and Data Collection program (CFDA 15.808), which supports scientific research across geological, biological, and environmental domains, with typical award values ranging from $10,000 to $800,000 and performance periods of 2-5 years.
