Tour of Building

Questions

1. Do patrons currently have access to the basement stacks? No, staff must retrieve items in the basement and bring them to patrons.

2. Are drawings available? No.

3. What sort of upgrades to the building have been done recently? The building exterior was painted less than 8 years ago, had new HVAC and insulation less than 5 years ago, and the front stairs and railing were replaced last year. Insulation was placed in the floor of the attic. First floor carpet was also replaced last year.

4. Is the building on Town sewer and water? Yes.

5. Is natural gas available? No, the Town is on a moratorium for new natural gas connections.

6. What are the property boundaries? The Town owns both the triangular property the library sits on as well as the parcel to the north at 24 Montague Rd.

7. In the event that the total project cost exceeds $1 million, will the entire building need to be net zero energy, or just the addition? Just the addition.

8. Does the public art installation need to be permanent, or can it be a host for temporary art?

That has not yet been determined.

9. Why does the RFQ mandate "familiarity and understanding of MBLC procedures and regulations?" Although this project is not funded by the MBLC, the Town does not want to do anything that may preclude MBLC funding in the future, and thus wishes to adhere as closely as possible to MBLC standards.

10. Who is on the evaluation committee? The committee will consist of five people: Guilford

Mooring; Sharon Sharry, Library Director; a to-be-named Jones Library trustee; two to-be-named members of the public.
