About this file
The document is a USGS Scientist Letter of Collaboration Template for the Earthquake Hazards Program External Research Support Announcement for Fiscal Year 2026. The related federal grant opportunity offers approximately $4 million in competitive research grants, with 50-70 new awards expected in FY2026. Grants will support earthquake hazards research, with individual awards typically ranging from $30,000 to $120,000. The program is authorized by the Earthquake Hazards Reduction Act and administered by the Department of the Interior's US Geological Survey. Proposal submissions are due by May 28, 2025, with anticipated award start dates between January 1 and September 1, 2026. Applicants must submit through Grants.gov, using CFDA number 15.807, and are strongly advised to register for grant notifications.
