About this file

These are technical specifications for a water drain line replacement project at the Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery Complex in North Dakota. The specifications cover two primary sections: Earth Moving (Section 312000) and Water Utility Piping (Section 331100), which detail requirements for excavation, trenching, backfilling, pipe installation, and utility system construction.

The project involves replacing the water drain line in the West Unit, including installing new Schedule 40 PVC pipes, replacing a gate valve, and connecting to existing fill and drain lines. Key technical requirements include using ductile iron or PVC pipes with specific pressure ratings (175 psi), conducting hydrostatic tests, properly compacting soil backfill, and following disinfection procedures for water systems. The contractor must install a protective system in the trench prior to pipe installation and coordinate work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service project engineer, with the exact pipe diameter and length to be determined on-site.
