SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS – GOLF CART

Background The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System has a need for a golf cart to help phlebotomists travel to different buildings at the WLA VA Medical Center Campus to assist patients.

Salient Characteristics Golf cart must have the following salient characteristics:

· Must be fully electric powered with zero carbon emissions

· Must be able to travel up to 20 to 30 miles on a single charge

· Must include a 1kW (at a minimum) onboard charger cable/plug that is compatible with 110V outlets

· Must be street-legal

· Must be able to travel up to 25 miles per hour

· Must seat up to 4 people

· Must have retractable three-point seat belts for all occupants to meet FMCSS 302 and SAE J386 standards

· Must have DOT-compliant tires

· Must have enclosed cabs with doors, roof, and automotive safety glass with windshield wipers

· Must have headlights that allow visibility in the dark, foggy, or rainy conditions

· Must have turn signals to indicate vehicles direction, reducing chances of accidents

· Must have brake lights, horn, and side and rearview mirrors as standard features for enhanced visibility and safety

· Must have hill control to prevent the golf cart from rolling away

· Must have one-pedal driving with the capability to reverse

· Must have warning signals for back-up including dedicated lights and audible sound

· Must include non-slip flooring

· Must have electronic power steering (EPS)

· Must have adjustable steering wheel

· Must come with standard manufacturer warranty transferrable to VA GLA
