About this file

KCPC delivers statewide services including pre-trial assessments, competency restoration treatment, and secure therapeutic inpatient care for mentally ill individuals accused or convicted of felony crimes. The center aspires to be an internationally recognized forensic hospital that develops, provides, and teaches innovative, evidence-based, and humane forensic mental health services. KCPC is committed to maintaining a violence-free and coercion-free environment that respects human dignity, with a philosophy of minimizing seclusion and restraint use except as a last resort when imminent danger exists to patients or staff.

The mission statement establishes KCPC's operational commitments to early identification and assessment of at-risk individuals, active treatment programs delivered by trained and competent staff, and adherence to policies that restrict seclusion and restraint to emergency safety measures only. Staff are expected to employ alternative intervention strategies to prevent and defuse escalating situations, reflecting the organization's commitment to evidence-based, therapeutic approaches within the forensic mental health care setting. This mission statement provides the foundational framework for the psychological evaluations contract opportunity (C5881) being conducted by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
