Direct traffic on the geotextile fabric, along with any sudden stops, starts, or turns on the FDOT #1 or FDOT #2 coarse aggregate by construction equipment, shall be avoided where possible. Using whatever means, the FDOT #1 or FDOT #2 coarse aggregate shall be machine spread from the back dumped pile. A minimum thickness of nine inches (9”) shall be maintained. A smooth drum roller shall be used to compact the FDOT #1 or FDOT #2 coarse aggregate while maintaining vertical tolerances. Any ruts occurring during construction shall be filled with additional FDOT #1 or FDOT #2 coarse aggregate and compacted to the target elevation. The use of vibratory compaction will not be allowed as it may cause damage to the geotextile.
10.5 Damage Repair:
Damaged geotextile fabric, as identified by the GOVERNMENT, shall be repaired immediately at the CONTRACTOR expense and at no additional cost to the GOVERNMENT. The damaged area, plus an additional three feet (3’) around the damaged area, shall be cleared of all coarse aggregate material. This area shall be covered with a geotextile fabric patch extending three feet (3’) beyond the perimeter of the damaged area. The removed coarse aggregate material shall be replaced and compacted to the target elevation.
10.6 Right to Vary the Low Water Crossings:
The GOVERNMENT reserves the right to vary the low water crossings from the lines shown on the Plans or observed at the Project Construction Site in order to avoid any unidentified public or private infrastructure, or to avoid other areas where the GOVERNMENT deems that the Work as shown on the Plans would be detrimental to the natural habitat at no additional cost to the GOVERNMENT.
TP-16
10.7 Equipment:
Equipment employed for the low water crossing Work shall be in satisfactory operating condition, capable of safely and efficiently performing the Work as indicated.
