About this file
This is a Statement of Work for dam maintenance in Shawnee National Forest, specifically in the Hidden Springs Ranger District across Hardin, Johnson, and Pope Counties, Illinois. The project requires removing debris from spillway risers and tree removal along the upstream face and crest of multiple dams, including the Whoopie Cat Dam. Contractors must work between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, with limited vehicular access, particularly at the Whoopie Cat Dam site. Key requirements include carefully removing wood debris and trees (both greater and less than 6-inch diameter), disposing of all materials off Forest Service lands, preventing public access to work sites, and restoring disturbed areas by grading, seeding with a standard lawn mix, and applying mulch. The contractor is responsible for complying with local regulations, removing all litter, and ensuring minimal damage to the dam structures during the maintenance process.
