Attachment A - Specifications

The USDA-ARS Potato Research Worksite located in East Grand Forks, MN, is looking to replace an existing pilot-scale French fry cutting head unit capable of slicing 3/8’’ flat cut fries from 10- 50lb potato batch samples. The facility routinely processes French fries from advanced potato clones and the cutting head unit should represent commercial pilot scale potato processing capabilities.

Required cutting head capabilities: 3/8’’ flat cut French fry.

Stainless steel and food-grade component construction is required.

The cutting head must be able to accept and process potatoes 10’’ in length or smaller.

The cutting head will be positioned within a pilot scale processing line that routinely processes 10 to 50 pound batch samples of product, and processed output does not exceed 2 ton per hour.

The footprint of the cutting head will be compatible with current cutting footprint of:

Length = 59.25’’, Width = 63.38’’ and Height 53.24’’

The cutting head must possess capabilities for end-user adjustment of cutting head spindles to achieve customer stakeholder cut preference (flat or crinkle cut).

Construction and engineering of safeguards or shields must permit routine cutting head inspection, sanitation, and ease of maintenance.

Cutting head motor electrical requirements: 5hp, 3 phase, 230 Volt

Service and parts for the cutting head can be obtained from distribution sites located in the United States.
