Salient Characteristics
The USGS – Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center seeks to build a set of high-pressure storage vessels in which to transport gas hydrate-bearing sediment cores from the field to the lab and store such sediment for analysis. These vessels require a large-bore ball valve to allow sediment cores to be inserted into the vessel under pressure before closing the valve to retain pressure in the vessel during transport and storage. Vessels will be submitted for Department of Transportation (DOT) approval.
MHA Zentgraf valves P/N 99212-23-404-48827 or equal
The ball valve required must conform to the following specifications:
1) Valve must be rated to 40 MPa (5800 psi)
2) Valve must have an internal bore diameter of 65 mm (2.55 inches)
3) Both ends of the valve must have four M24 bolt holes arranged with a 145 mm (5.71 inches) (diagonal) spacing to mate with the storage chamber and the required ISO 6164 Flange
4) Valve must be accompanied by the following design, material and test certificates required for submitting an application for DOT certification of the completed storage chambers:
a) ABS design approval
b) Material certificate: DIN EN 10204 3.1 (or equivalent)
c) Test certificate: 3.1 EN12266-1 KHSAE/KHISO - DN15-80 P10/P11/P12 (or equivalent)
