About this file
This is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) document from the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) for the development of a UC Laboratory Safety Design Manual. The RFQ solicits qualified consultants and professionals to submit responses to a comprehensive questionnaire addressing their qualifications and experience. Submissions should be directed to joe.lee@ucop.edu. The document outlines nine key qualification areas that prospective bidders must address, including company history and core business areas, experience developing laboratory design guidelines for organizations with multiple complex facilities, relevant licenses and certifications, detailed project team composition with resumes, knowledge of applicable California codes and regulations, familiarity with laboratory safety design manual services, differentiation strategies for serving large universities and health centers with diverse research operations, and documentation of three similar projects completed within the past five years with client references.
The RFQ emphasizes the specialized nature of the required services, particularly expertise in laboratory design standards, building codes, regulatory requirements, hazardous chemical storage, and ventilation specifications tailored to California-specific requirements. Bidders must demonstrate experience with complex facility types including BSL-3 laboratories, teaching labs, and animal care facilities. Additionally, the RFQ requests that prospective consultants disclose any prior work completed for or with the University of California system within the past five years. The document does not specify pricing information, contract term, award timeline, or funding sources in this attachment; these details would typically be found in other sections of the full solicitation package.
