PPI’s
1. SOW 1.4.1.4 (11) requires new flue through to the chimney, it appears the existing boiler and water heater both share this same space and possibly the flue pipe, would it be acceptable to use the flanged adapter located out side the chimney for the new boiler venting POC?
ANS: Refer to selected Boiler Installation Manual for proper Chimney Venting. For the example used in the SOW - TS EVS chimney venting is acceptable with requirements such as 15’ stack, double acting barometric damper with integral flue spillage interlock, etc. A flue adapter would be required to connect to existing thimble. Contractor is not responsible to install any components on the chimney itself (condensate drain, chimney cap). See Revised SOW dated 21 July 2020.
2. No 3ph power is in the mechanical space, room 7 electrical room located in the basement has
3ph power available with in the panel. Would it be acceptable to pull power from room 7 to serve new pump?
ANS: Yes the contractor will be required to route new conduit and wire from the existing MDP in Rm 7 to the mechanical room. The MDP schedule lists spare 20 amp breakers. The new building pump with VFD will require 208V / 20 amp / 3ph circuit. There is 208V / 1ph available from the existing boiler/pump in the mechanical room for the new boiler and boiler pump. See revised SOW dated 21 July 2020
3. Does the new VFD require Bypass feature?
ANS: Yes, see revised SOW revised 21 July 2020.
4. 1.4.1.7 states route condensate tubing to the floor drain, this space does not have a floor drain but has a sump, would routing the tubing to the sump be acceptable?
ANS: Yes acceptable to route to sump. Piping will require safety protection on both sides in walking path.
5. The existing system appears to have no Y strainers installed, will we need to install a new y strainer prior to flush to capture all deposits and debris prior to installation of the new system?
ANS: Yes install strainer in return prior to chem flushing. See revised SOW dated 21 July.
6. Can core drilling be performed during normal business hours?
ANS: No, see revised SOW dated 21 July
7. Where should the 3PH circuit for the building loop pump be derived from?
ANS: See PPI #2 and Revised SOW dated 21 July 2020.
8. SOW calls for a 3-way valve and DDC controlled actuator to be installed on the boiler protection loop, Is there a DDC system in the building?
ANS: There is no DDC in the building. The boiler will control the 3-way valve and OSA reset per the SOW and Attachment #1
9. Can the new flue be connected to the flange off of the chimney stack, or does the new flue vent need to extend the full length of the chimney stack?
ANS: See PPI #1 and revised SOW dated 21 July.
10. There is no floor drain, where should the drain piping terminate?
ANS: See PPI #1 and Revised SOW Revised 21 July
