About this file

This is a template spreadsheet file for submitting Building Automation System (BAS) object naming conventions to GSA. The template requires contractors/vendors to document existing object names, descriptions, object types, engineering units, and proposed new standardized names that comply with GSA's Data Normalization for Building Automation Systems standard.

The template includes fields for trend logging specifications (5-min intervals, 15-min intervals, or Change of Value), alarm configurations, and remote notifications. GSA reviewers use the template to approve, reject, or request clarification on proposed names. The document emphasizes that contractors must obtain GSA approval for naming conventions prior to implementation, as non-compliance may result in additional costs that will be the contractor's responsibility. While this template appears related to a courthouse project in Sioux Falls, SD, it is a standard GSA form not specific to that project's scope of work.

Refer to GSA Data Normalization for Building Automation Systems for naming and metadata tagging requirements for BAS devices and objects. The latest version of this document can be obtained from GSA by requesting it from the GSA PBS OFM BAS team or from the GSA Project Manager.

Failure to conform to GSA standards and specifications may result in additional costs. The BAS contractor/vendor is liable for these costs; GSA is NOT RESPONSIBLE for projects costs associated with correcting device and/or object naming that does not conform to GSA standards. The contractor/vendor is strongly urged to submit naming and obtain GSA approval prior to implementation.
