F-35 FLIGHTLINE DINING FACILITY, USAFE/RAF LAKENHEATH, UK

Project Description (U):Construct Flightline Dining Facility (DFAC) including areas for receipt/issue (refrigeration, dry storage, receiving platform, etc.), kitchen, a dishwashing room, a refrigerated holding area for perishable food during processing, staff toilets and locker area, office, storage room, serving, dining room (some patron seating, aisles, and mechanical room.

Risk/Impact to Mission (U): Personnel will have to commute to the current DFAC on opposite side of base via vehicle, as it is not a walkable distance in the timeframe allowed.

Project NumberMSET 18-3502FY RequiredFY22
Cost ($000)MAJCOM Priority

Supporting Statements (U): The current dining facility is located in the cantonment area approximately 2.5KM from the flightline area. It has the capacity to serve 1200 personnel (PN)leaving a shortfall of 1937PN once the influx of new F-35 PN arrive. Additionally 70% of Enlisted personnel are authorized to be served during meal periods. The MWR facility on the flightline is only able to serve snack type foods therefore Airmen either travel to the current DFAC or they eat low nutritional value fast food from the snack bar.

Workaround (U): Rely on existing eating options all located in the cantonment area or MWR golf course facility that lacks the capacity to serve members located in the operations area of the base.
