About this file

This document is a technical specifications sheet for a FIPS Microwave License system based on Aviat Networks Eclipse Version 8.03.44 software, dated 22 June 2026.

The specification details two primary components: the EZG-42 Strong Security FIPS 140-2 Compliant system and the EZG-04 Upgrade Payload Encryption feature. The EZG-42 system requires FIPS Level 2 Compliance and includes hardware modules consisting of an INUe chassis, NCC (Network Control Card), at least one RAC (Radio Access Card), FIPS kit, and seals. The licensing package enables Secure Management, Payload Encryption, RADIUS Integration, Software Integrity Verification, and FIPS mode operation. The system functions as an all-in-one next generation dual hybrid and packet microwave radio supporting cost-optimized mobile backhaul, public, and private networking applications with high-performance RF and Carrier Ethernet capabilities. It provides a complete set of microwave nodal networking capabilities with multi-directional integrated microwave switching, supporting up to 6 RF radios or up to 45 Ethernet radios in a single rack unit. The EZG-04 Payload Encryption upgrade provides AES-CCM cipher suite encryption with support for 128, 192, or 256-bit keys (AES 128/192/256 CCM). Encryption operates under fixed or adaptive modulation with randomly generated link-specific keys exchanged through DTLS tunnels, user-configurable key change intervals, and user-configurable link IDs to ensure only authorized radios negotiate encryption keys.

Technical Specifications FIPS Microwave License for a system with Aviat Networks Eclipse Version 8.03.44 software.

EZG-42 Strong Security FIPS 140-2 Compliant + EZG-42

The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 is a U.S. Government computer security standard used to accredit cryptographic modules. Specifications include:

• FIPS Level 2 Compliance.

• Hardware Modules: INUe chassis + NCC + at least one RAC + FIPS kit and seals.

• Licensing: EZG-42 "Strong Security" license enabling Secure Management, Payload Encryption, RADIUS Integration, Software Integrity Verification, ability to operation in FIPS mode enabling Level 2 Compliance.

• All-in-one next generation dual hybrid and packet microwave radio.

• Networking features to address cost-optimized mobile backhaul, public, and private networking applications, along with high performance RF and Carrier Ethernet capabilities.

• A complete set of microwave nodal networking capabilities.

• Multi-directional integrated microwave switching within a single system, supporting up to 6 RF or up to 45 Ethernet radios in a single rack unit.

Upgrade Payload Encryption EZG-04

Payload encryption is supported under fixed or adaptive modulation. Payload encryption is an independent, licensed feature. It does not depend on the activation of other strong security options. Specifications include:

• AES-CCM cipher suite includes AES counter mode data encryption and CBCMAC data integrity validation.

• Encryption is through 128, 192 or 256 bit keys (AES 128/192/256 CCM).

• Each link has a randomly generated encryption key. Keys are exchanged through a DTLS tunnel (Datagram Transport layer Security).

• A user configurable key change option specifies the maximum time a particular key can be used. Key change is errorless.

• A user-configurable link ID for key generation ensures that only radios that belong to the link can negotiate an encryption key.
