Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Pineville Clear Span Hydraulic Press Demolition

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Demolish and remove two hydraulic presses, one oil heater and tank, a steel storage rack and remove an oven from the Clear Span Building at the Alexandria Forestry Center in Pineville, LA.

2.0 Background: The Alexandria Forestry Center, located at 2500 Shreveport Highway in Pineville, Louisiana, is a large facility that is home to the Kisatchie National Forest Supervisor’s Office (SO) as well as personnel from multiple research units of the Southern Research Station (SRS).

The Clear Span Building contains two built in hydraulic presses that are surplus to the Government’s needs. Press #1’s overall dimensions (including piping, valves, and tanks) are approximately 5-ft x 10-ft x 9 ft. Press #2’s overall dimensions (including piping, valves, and tanks) are approximately 5-ft x 7-ft x 9-ft. Press #2 also includes a separate tank and heater approximately 5-ft x 6-ft x 10-ft. The hydraulic tanks have been emptied of oil, but hydraulic oil remains in the cylinders, hoses, and piping. Electrical service has been disconnected from the presses. The insulation for the presses’ plumbing was found to contain Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). The ACM has been removed and the asbestos survey and abatement reports will be provided to the contractor. The steel storage rack is approximately 5-ft x 5-ft x 12-ft in dimension and is bolted to the adjacent wall. The oven is a Blue M, Model MP-326G-HP, free standing unit that has had electrical service disconnected.
