About this file

This document contains a network topology diagram template and instructions for a Veterans Affairs medical facility seeking to depict its systems and communications flows. The template provides directions on including elements such as external connections via memoranda of understanding, VPN and cloud technologies, wireless specifications, and commonly used ports for various medical systems. Examples are given for devices like ultrasound machines, PACS, and laboratory analyzers. The template is accompanied by a federal contract opportunity notice for a community image sharing platform for Veterans Affairs Integrated Service Network 15. Offerors are instructed to review the template and examples to understand the network environment and required integrations for any proposed solution.

Topology Directions Topology diagram must match PPS tab All ports required for use within ACL must be on diagram Legend on template identifies color coding for lines within diagram All arrows must depict communication flow (in, out, bidirectional) External connection (S2S) must note the approved MOU number, all PPS required (external IP will be listed on PPS tab) Depict VPN, Citrix, webex Cloud – if system uses cloud technologies, identify approval number Internal communication within the accreditation boundary must be depicted.

If the devices do not utilize 10.x.x.x, please specify generic ‘192.x.x.x’ or ‘172.x.x.x’ If wireless communication is only within VLAN and does not require VA IP’s through mobile1md please note: wireless communication is internal only If a medical device/peripherals is attached to a workstation, please specify how these devices communicate (i.e. USB, port, IP) exclude keyboard and mouse.
