About this file
This document outlines First Article Inspection requirements for a contract involving contractor testing, referencing the military specification MIL-S-22698C with amendments from 1988, 1994, and 2002. The document specifies that first article samples must be tested according to Section 43 of ABS rules, with test reports to be prepared per DI-NDTI-80809B standard. Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF will approve the first article test results.
The government reserves the right to waive first article inspection requirements for bidders offering products previously acquired or tested by the government. Bidders seeking to rely on prior production or testing must provide evidence of prior government approval's current appropriateness for the pending contract. The disposition of first articles will be handled through commercially acceptable practices, allowing flexibility in managing initial product samples and testing procedures.
