FOREWORD
1. PURPOSE:
This publication is the plan of instruction (POI) when the pages listed on page A are bound into a single volume.
When separated into units of instruction, it becomes the lesson plan/part I. The POI contains the qualitative requirements for course L3AZR179192 0SRA Fundamentals of Networks and Cyber Security, in terms of objectives for each unit of instruction and shows planned time, training standard correlation, and support materials and guidance. This POI was developed according to AETCI 36-2651, Basic Military and Technical Training.
2. COURSE DESIGN DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for students to develop cyber security skills and knowledge. Students learn to identify user problems, such as data access needs, security violations, and changes in programming. They receive training in strengthening digital documents’ security, network security, emergency measures, and establishing policy, procedures, and necessary system tests or trials. Additional areas of training focus on how to create training programs for users and foster security consciousness to ensure system integrity and improve server/net efficiency. Finally, students learn to supervise data use and regulate its access in order to safeguard file information. The course instruction includes Standards and Evaluation, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Network Protection, Threats and Vulnerabilities, Network Vulnerability and Security, Network Fundamentals, Networks Operation and Configuration, Wireless Networks, Identity and Access Control, Educating and Protecting the User, Operating System and Application of Security, Physical Security, Security-related Directives and Procedures, and Network Server Infrastructure and Services. The course finalizes in a team-based CAPSTONE event where students utilize the processes and procedures learned throughout the course and implement them in a real-world tactical scenario.
3. TRAINING EQUIPMENT: The type and amount of equipment needed for training is indicated under SUPPORT MATERIAL and GUIDANCE. The number shown in parenthesis after an equipment item denotes the planned number of students assigned to each piece of equipment. It is the instructors' responsibility to ensure the students know when this equipment is required for training.
4. REFERENCES: This POI is based on Course Training Standard L3AZR1791920SRA, 08 Nov 2022, and Course Chart L3AZR1791920SRA, 01 Dec 2022.
5. INSTRUCTION SEQUENCE: The POI is numbered in the preferred order of presentations, by Units.
Variations in instructional sequence are authorized to accommodate requirements per squadron leadership review/approval.
6. CORE VALUES: USAF Core Values are not mandatory for IMS; however, they will be integrated throughout the instruction to enhance IAAFA's building partnership capacities mission.
7. OTHER: A risk assessment was completed for all objectives; classroom-only portions of the course were assessed and found to have no inherent risk; performance objectives were assessed and found to have no levels of risk.

Instructional Guidance 2(a) Students will receive human rights familiarization training throughout the course per Security Cooperation Education and Training Program (SCETP) objectives and the United States Strategy on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) (June 2019). Instructors will concentrate discussions on promoting a better understanding of the United States commitment to the basic principles of internationally recognized human rights. Instructors should accentuate the benefits of women’s political empowerment and equality as the end state whereby women can meaningfully participate in preventing, mediating, and resolving conflict and countering terrorism, in ways that promote stable and lasting peace, including in conflict affected areas. The goal is to reiterate the importance of government protected women human rights so they can meaningfully contribute locally, nationally, and globally.
Note: Please reference the U.S. Strategy on WPS (June 2019), “The Theory of Change: A National Strategy on Women, Peace and Security” for additional discussion points if required.” The information/discussion points in this lesson reinforce key points covered in the WPS training module accomplished by all international military students (IMS) upon arrival at the Inter-American Air Forces academy.

Multiple Instructor Requirements Objective a:
Span of Control (2) (22.5 hrs) Two (2) qualified instructors are required to administer (22.5) total hours for this objective. The two instructors, will simulate acting as a “team” and deliver (2.5) hours of "Demonstration" for (team-based) accomplishment of tasks; “Configure WPA Functions, Program EXEC Mode Functions, Configure Switch Functions, Program EXEC and VLAN Interface Functions, Configure Router Functions, Configure Workstation Functions, Configure Active Directory (AD) Functions, Configure Manage Tools and Organization Functions, and Configure Create User Functions”. Following the demonstration, students will be divided into two groups; one instructor per group of students (approximately 5 students per group) for a ratio of (1:5) is required. One instructor per group is required to administer (12) hours of "Performance" under a team-based concept. The instructors will then administer (8) hours of "Performance/Evaluation" for each individual group.
