| Question 2 Response: I researched several companies that supply NDT equipment and found that the either sold the same Flaw tech components as third-party sellers or did not offer a sufficient variety of specimens to meet our requirements. Some of the vendors I explored include UT Flaw Specimen, NDT Supply, and Sonaspection. |
| Question 3 Response: Samples from various manufacturers are usually welded plates rather that actual components such as bolts or hooks that students might encounter in the field. using these components would create a more realistic training environment, reflecting field inspection practices in the classroom. |
| Question 4 Response: Intent is to meet the evaluation aid requirement in TO 33B-1-1 Para. 1.2.8.2 and have a wide assortment of parts. By introducing new parts, we aim to simulate a closer real-world experience, wherein parts may appear visually sound but harbor internal or subtle defects, necessitating the application of taught nondestructive inspection techniques for detection. Acquiring these new parts would yield several benefits. Firstly, it would enhance the school's capacity to accurately evaluate students' abilities, skills, and techniques acquired during their training. Secondly, it would bolster students' defect-finding abilities, enhancing both their techniques and confidence as they transition to fieldwork. Lastly, this move aligns with the Air Force's shift towards competency-based learning and supports the 82nd TRW's vision of student-centered education, thus future-proofing our nondestructive inspection course. |

| Question 6 Response: The parts currently employed in our course are sourced from the field and exhibit noticeable defects. With the new curriculum veering away from block testing, we aim to utilize this defective samples/parts to accurately gauge students' proficiency in applying Nondestructive Inspection methods. However, our current inventory is saturated with chemicals that render our inspection methods ineffective in accurately assessing students' abilities. | |
