About this file
This document is an attachment to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the University of Maryland (UMD) for verified carbon offsets and other environmental attribute certificates. The RFP outlines detailed technical criteria and requirements the selected vendor must meet, including the ability to provide verified carbon credits and other environmental attribute certificates generated by certified projects, manage dedicated offset registry sub-accounts for UMD, and provide in-depth project details. Preferred qualifications include the ability to provide comparable substitute credits, verified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Solar RECs (SRECs), Green-e voluntary carbon offsets, Renewable Fuel Credits (RFCs), and involvement of students, faculty, and staff in hands-on learning opportunities. The University is also interested in credits/certificates generated from projects in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as those demonstrating climate change resilience and community-level economic or public health co-benefits.
The RFP indicates that the University is not opposed to purchasing some verified offsets from non-domestic projects, but inclusion of such projects is not a high priority. Pricing terms, set-asides, funding requirements and sources, and other salient commercial information are not included in the provided document.
