Summary of Statement of Work: Repair Outside Covering of Greenhouses, Building 07 and 17
This is a Statement of Work for a federal contract requiring the demolition and replacement of exterior covering on two greenhouse structures. The project involves removing existing stucco, foam insulation, and wire mesh barriers from the lower concrete foundation walls of greenhouses Building 07 and 17, totaling approximately 460 linear feet by 3 feet high. The contractor must replace the removed materials with commercial-grade steel siding (minimum 26 gauge) in "light stone" color to match existing steel-sided buildings on the facility. Installation includes pressure-treated backing material, steel flashing approximately 5 inches wide, and J-channel at both top and bottom edges to prevent weather infiltration. The contractor must also replace approximately 50 linear feet of 1 1/2-inch PVC drainage pipe on the east greenhouse and 100 linear feet on the west greenhouse, re-attach drainage lines to the finished wall, re-position two lightning rod cables after installation, and ensure water spigots remain accessible. The vendor shall provide a full one-year warranty on the new exterior wall covering. All work must be completed within 300 days of contract acceptance. Mandatory attendance at a site visit on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 8:00 am Central Daylight Time is required for proposal eligibility; attendees must sign in with Location Monitor Craig McCuin (605-693-5203). All contractor personnel must possess valid U.S. photo identification, and the contractor must identify an on-site superintendent and provide operator certifications for equipment operating over buildings or personnel. Disposal of existing materials is the contractor's responsibility; dumpster positioning should be west of Building 017.

Statement of Work Project: Repair Outside Covering of Greenhouses, Building 07 and 17.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Performance Work Statement:
Remove existing stucco, foam, wire mesh outside cover of greenhouse walls and replace with new steel siding.
Background: Current foam insulation sheets and covering have reached their expected life and need replacement.
The contractor shall demo and remove all existing outside covering of exterior walls and replace with new steel siding.
Proposal Requirement:
Contractors desiring to submit a proposal for this performance work statement must attend a site visit on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 8:00 am Central Daylight Time. Attendance will be taken. Contractors who do not attend the site visit and sign in with the locations’ Point of Contact (Craig McCuin) will be ineligible to submit a proposal.
Demo/Removal of existing exterior covering.
The contractor shall demo and remove all existing exterior materials covering the lower concrete walls of two greenhouses.
Exterior dimensions: The dimensions of the current exterior covering of one greenhouse is approximately 100 feet long x 3 feet high (1 side); 30 feet wide x 3 feet high (end); 100 feet long x 3 feet high (2nd side) (or 230 linear feet by 3 feet high). Total of approximately 460 linear feet by 3 feet high).
The demo includes all labor, equipment, supplies, material, and coordination for removing the existing exterior barrier from the concrete wall.
Disposal or recycling of the exterior barrier shall be the responsibility of the contractor.
Contractors may contact local waste collectors (Cooks Wastepaper and Recycling 605-693-3363;
Brookings Dumpster Service 605-691-9442; or a vendor of the contractor's choosing) to dispose of current exterior covering.
Position dumpster to the west of building 017.
Drainage Ports
There are 3 drainage ports on the east greenhouse and 4 on the west greenhouse. The drainage ports run into a PVC line that goes to a drain. The outside 1 1/2-inch PVC (approximately 50 linear feet on the east greenhouse and approximately 100 linear feet on the west greenhouse) needs to be replaced with new PVC pipe. The drainage lines need to be re-attached to the 1 1/2-inch PVC, attached to the finished wall and to the drainage on the south end.
Lightening Rod Cables:
There are two lightening rod cables (one on the east greenhouse, northeast side; one on the west greenhouse, southwest corner). These both need to be re-attached after installing the new wall.
Water spigots:
There is one water spigot on the south end of each greenhouse. Those need to remain accessible after installing the new siding.
Steel Siding Installation:
After current exterior material is removed, approximately 460 linear feet by 3 feet high of steel siding will need to be installed. (Each exterior greenhouse concrete foundation is approximately 100 feet x 30 feet x 100 feet x 3 feet high).
Affix pressure-treated material to provide a solid backing to attach the steel siding.
Steel siding will be commercial-grade siding, minimum of 26 gauge and match existing steel siding in color and appearance of existing steel sided buildings. Color will be “light stone” or equivalent to match existing steel siding. See figure 1.
Figure 1
Steel flashing approximately 5 inches wide and J channel will extend over the top of the steel siding to prevent weather infiltration.
A J-channel or similar steel attachment will also be used on the bottom of the wall.
Vendor shall provide a full year warranty on new exterior wall covering after installation.
