About this file

This document is a technical specifications file for a federal procurement of laboratory imaging equipment and supplies by the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), a USDA-ARS facility.

The primary deliverable is a blots and gels imaging system that must be compatible with Image Lab Software and capable of accessing and modifying ptl and scn file types. The imaging system must include a cooled CCD detector with 6 megapixels, dynamic range exceeding 4 orders of magnitude, and a chemiluminescence detector with 590/110 nm standard emission filter. Additional technical requirements include automatic tray recognition, pre-calibrated focus capabilities for any zoom setting, two user-defined auto-exposure modes, image flat fielding capability, 16-bit or 8-bit data output in SCN, TIFF, or JPEG formats, and physical dimensions not exceeding 61 cm length by 51 cm width by 53 cm height. The system must operate at 100-250V, with an operating temperature range of 10-28 degrees Celsius and humidity range of 10-85% relative humidity. Accompanying supplies required include one white sample tray, one blue sample tray (both for Coomassie Blue, Copper, Silver, or Zinc stains), Image Lab Software with FDA CFR 21 Part 11 module, hFAB Rhodamine Anti-Tubulin Primary Antibody (40 μl), Precision Plus Protein standards with three reference bands (25, 50, 75 kD) for 100 applications, Clarity Max Western ECL Substrate (100 ml), and a package of at least 10 4-20% Mini-Protean TGX Stain-Free Protein Gels with 12-month shelf life. All products must be delivered within 30 days of award to USMARC in Clay Center, Nebraska. The government is offering a Bio-Rad ChemiDoc XRS+ (Model Universal Hood II, Serial No. 721BR01140) as a trade-in, which will be exchanged upon delivery of the new equipment.
