About this file

This document is a comprehensive set of technical specifications for multiple building life safety upgrades at the Curlew Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center located in Curlew, Washington. The project includes two primary base items: (1) replacing the gymnasium fire alarm system with a new addressable system featuring voice communication capabilities, and (2) installing an emergency stop system for welding equipment. The fire alarm system replacement will involve removing the existing conventional system, installing new addressable devices, providing smoke and heat detectors, adding horn/strobes, and creating a new fire alarm panel with battery backup. The emergency stop system will include three emergency stop stations, one in the instructor's office and two in the shop area, with modifications to electrical circuits and receptacles.

The project specifications outline detailed requirements for electrical work, fire detection, and system installation, including strict qualifications for workers (such as licensed electricians and NICET-certified fire alarm technicians), compliance with numerous national codes and standards (NFPA, ICC, NEC), and comprehensive submittal and testing procedures. The work is to be performed between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, with the contractor responsible for maintaining existing building operations and minimizing disruptions. The project includes provisions for detailed documentation, system testing, and a one-hour demonstration of the installed systems for government personnel.
