Statement of Requirements

Project: Acquisition of a 4-row cotton planter with 38-inch row spacing and a vacuum seed metering system

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Delivery of a 4-row cotton planter with 38-inch row spacing and a vacuum seed meter system and coupling/lift system to attach to an existing strip tillage implement.

2.0 Background: A 4-row cotton planter with seed hoppers spaced 38-inches apart and equipped with a vacuum seed metering system is required to allow for improved ease of cotton establishment in a variety of field trials. Additionally, coupling accessories are required to allow for attaching this planter to an existing 4-row strip tillage implement that would allow for strip tillage and planting to occur in a single field pass, rather than two passes.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

Minimum Requirements

1. Must include the 4-row cotton planter with 38-inch row spacing and a vacuum seed meter system

2. Must include a vacuum seed delivery system

3. Must include coupling equipment and a lift kit to attach planter to an existing

4-row 38-inch spacing strip tillage implement

4. Must have a chain drive with mechanical transmission

5. Must have accessories to include chain guard, drive wheel covers, hydraulic lines/hookups included to power the vacuum, granular chemical system, and cotton seed discs

6. Able to be connected to a tractor utilizing 3-pt hitch with category 3 pins

7. Must be delivered fully assembled and ready-to-use

4.0 Government Furnished: Not applicable.

5.0 Deliverables/Schedule: 4-row cotton planter and accompanying accessories must be delivered to USDA-ARS, Clemson Pee Dee Research and Education Center, 2200 Pocket Rd., Florence, SC 29506
