About this file

This is a purchase request for a gas chromatograph system designed for off-site analysis of volatile compounds at various U.S. mainland research locations.

The procurement requires one Agilent Model 8890A gas chromatograph (120V) equipped with two detectors: a front Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) and a back Pulsed Flame Photometric Detector (PFPD) with dual elemental mode capability for phosphorus and sulfur analysis without physical filter changes. The system must include two split/splitless injection ports with electronic pneumatic control and gas sampling injection valves featuring backflush capability, Silcosteel sample-wetted lines, and a micro diaphragm pump. The GC will analyze ethyl formate and methyl bromide (50-4000 ppmv in air) via TCD and phosphine (50-4000 ppmv in air) and sulfuryl fluoride (200-34,000 ppmv in air) via PFPD. Channel 1 (TCD) and Channel 2 (PFPD, utilizing a Xylem Model 5383 detector) each require a DB-1 capillary column (100 m × 0.53 mm × 5 μm), pneumatically actuated 6-port gas sampling valves with backflush-to-vent capability, and analytical testing with optimization of valve timing and detector settings. The system must include an HP ProBook 4 G1i laptop computer with Windows 11, Intel Core Ultra 5 225U processor, 16 GB DDR5-5600 memory, 512 GB SSD, 14-inch display, and 3-year on-site warranty, along with OpenLab CDS Workstation software supporting two GC connections. Additional requirements include an auxiliary valve oven capable of mounting six Valco valves, Option 301 (3-Channel Auxiliary EPC), Option 206 (AIB Analog Input Board), functional system testing, on-site method development and training, and custom documentation including plumbing diagrams and precision statistics.

Purchase request: Gas chromatograph with Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) and dual element Pulsed Flame Photometric Detector (PFPD)

Minimum Specifications:

The procurement request is for one Agilent Model 8890A gas chromatograph (GC) equipped with two detectors: (1) Front Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD), and (2) Back Pulsed Flame Photometric Detector (PFPD); and two injection ports, each equipped with a gas sampling injection valve with backflush capability. The GC will be shipped to various U.S. mainland research locations and used off-site to analyze: (1) ethyl formate and methyl bromide (50-4000 ppmv in air) using TCD and (2) phosphine (50-4000 ppmv in air) and sulfuryl fluoride (200 – 34000 ppmv in air) using PFPD. A laptop computer (not a desktop) is required to control the GC and process data for off-site use.

1. General Requirements Agilent Model 8890A Gas Chromatograph, 120V.

Laptop computer (not desktop) for GC control and data analysis in remote locations.
