A qualified Field Service Engineer capable of servicing the specific Heracles-150-0450 model is required. The contractor shall coordinate all onsite visits (Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm EST) with the site manager, and travel and associated costs are not authorized under this contract. The Government furnishes the existing instrument, physical access, standard utilities, and necessary personnel for scheduling.

Project Annual Service for Heracles E-Nose Service General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to procure an annual service contract for an existing Alpha MOS Heracles-150-0450 electronic nose (e-nose) system. This service shall ensure the system is properly maintained and promptly serviced to support the annual analysis of approximately 3,000 samples and minimize operational downtime for the laboratory.
2.0 Background
The (Solicitation background details conduct research studies on flavor attributes of whole pulses, pulse flours and pulse food products) utilizes the Heracles e-nose to evaluate large numbers of samples from breeding programs, germplasm collections, and commercial sources for aroma volatile profiles.
Contractor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
The Contractor shall provide comprehensive maintenance and support for the Alpha MOS Heracles 150 E-Nose system located in the Plant and Soil Sciences Building, (1066 Bogue Street East Lansing Michigan) ensuring all services meet the following requirements:
Task Description
Hardware Support and Repair: Contractor shall provide 100% coverage for all hardware failures for the duration of the contract period.
Parts, Labor, and Visits: Contractor shall provide all replacement consumable and disposable parts, repair visits, and associated labor costs at no additional charge.
Unlimited Instrument Support: Contractor shall provide unlimited hardware support via phone or video conference during specified hours (9 am – 5 pm EST).
Annual Onsite Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Application Support: Contractor shall conduct one (1) onsite preventative maintenance check annually. This visit must include application support as required.
Application Use and Software Support: Contractor shall provide sixteen (16) hours of application use and software support via email, phone, or video conference. Support hours must be between 9 am – 5 pm EST.
Software Upgrades: Contractor shall provide free software upgrades for the existing Heracles system as they become available during the contract period.
Technical Training: Contractor shall provide eight (8) hours of technical training to Government personnel via a Microsoft Teams video meeting. Technical training support must be between 9 am – 5 pm EST
4.0 Government Furnished
The Government will furnish the existing Alpha MOS Heracles 150 E-Nose instrument and provide physical access to the equipment location, standard utilities (power, water, network access), and necessary personnel for scheduling and access.
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule
The Contractor shall provide the service contract coverage and execute the required services within the timeframes specified below:
The service shall cover a period of one (1) year from the date of award, and four (4) one-year option periods. The total duration of this contract shall not exceed five (5) years.
Service Contract Coverage Activated No later than February 6, Early deliveries will be accepted.
Onsite Preventative Maintenance Visit Once annually, scheduled mutually with the Site Manager
Software Upgrades (as available) Upon release by Contractor and coordination with Site Manager
Technical Training (8 hours) Scheduled mutually within the contract period
Repair/Support Visits As required to restore system functionality
6.0 Travel
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will coordinate scheduling with the e-nose Main User/Manager at the site to confirm availability of the instrument and personnel. Onsite visits shall be Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm EST. Travel and other associated costs are not authorized under this contract.
7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel
The Contractor shall provide a qualified Field Service Engineer (FSE) capable of servicing the specific Heracles-150-0450 model. The FSE must possess the expertise required to ensure the system operates properly with the latest software, hardware, and parts.
8.0 Security Requirements
There are no specific security requirements beyond standard facility access protocols which will be coordinated by the Government Point of Contact (POC).
