About this file

This document is a detailed Boiler Plant Program Assessment spreadsheet for a VA Medical Center, providing a comprehensive evaluation of the facility's boiler plant operations across ten critical categories: Management, Directives, Training, Parts & Supplies, References, Records, Physical Observations, Facility Condition Assessment, Testing and Inspection, and Layup and Rotation.

The assessment reveals that while the medical center's boiler plant generally meets operational standards, several improvement areas were identified, including the need to develop specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for gauge calibration, spare parts inventory management, and equipment rotation. Notable findings include the requirement to perform non-destructive testing on the deaerator tank (overdue by five years), update safety device testing documentation, replace certain safety relief valves, and implement additional safety modifications such as adding a SLAMPS switch to all boilers and relocating fan current relays. The overall hospital score across various assessment categories ranged between 64-94%, indicating a generally compliant but not fully optimized boiler plant operation.
