About this file

This document is an Attachment detailing Quality Assurance (QA) Requirements for propeller preservation, packaging, and marking for a U.S. Coast Guard contract with Michigan Wheel Operations, LLC. The QA requirements mandate 100% dimensional inspection and completeness per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications, with preservation methods designed for long-term storage up to two years using MIL-STD-2073 standards. Packaging must prevent rust, corrosion, and damage during shipping, utilizing specific wooden or fiberboard containers with strict marking requirements per MIL-STD-129R.

The document specifies detailed shipping and marking protocols, including mandatory bar coding of National Stock Numbers (NSN), specific labeling instructions, and delivery to the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Critical packaging guidelines include using appropriately sized shipping containers, skid mounting for heavy items, and providing comprehensive shipping information to the Contracting Officer. Failure to meet preservation, packaging, packing, marking, and bar-coding requirements may result in item rejection and payment delays, emphasizing the strict quality control expectations for these critical propeller components used in 154' WPC vessel propulsion systems.
