About this file
This letter of exception provides updated size specifications for men's wool berets to be procured by the United States Air Force Academy. The document replaces the existing size table and specifies that the basic fabric shall be Merino wool and binding may be black bovine leather. Additionally, it defines the shell fabric color as USAF Academy blue, Shade 500, for berets manufactured solely for cadets. The letter identifies the preparing and reviewing activities as various divisions within the US Air Force Academy responsible for cadet uniforms and logistics.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation issued by the Department of the Air Force Headquarters Air Force Academy to procure USAFA cadet berets. The solicitation seeks to meet requirements defined in the letter of exception through procurement of men's wool berets in USAF Academy blue for cadet use, incorporating the updated size table and material specifications.
