About this file
This document is a Brand Name Justification for a federal contract opportunity for the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Information Technology (OIT). OIT has a requirement for Dell PowerEdge Servers to upgrade their current server infrastructure. The justification cites FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) as the authority to limit competition to the Dell brand due to the need for compatibility with the existing IT environment. The requirement will be solicited as an Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise (ISBEE) set-aside. The contracting officer determined the anticipated price will be fair and reasonable based on expected competition from ISBEE resellers and comparison to previous purchases. The document states that OIT will be encouraged to evaluate alternative hardware options annually to remove barriers to full and open competition in the future.
