About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a manual hand tubing bender system intended for high-precision fabrication and bending of aircraft-grade tubing in an industrial shop-floor environment. The system must be supplied as a complete kit from a single manufacturer and meet or exceed all specifications to be considered technically acceptable.
The mechanical and bending hardware requirements specify that the system must be equivalent to a heavy-duty, professional-grade manual bender (such as Parker 632 HD or Swagelok Heavy-Duty Bench-Top Tube Bender), manually operated via lever arm to produce high-quality bends without wrinkling or collapsing tube walls. The system must accommodate various tubing materials including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and copper alloys, with tubing outside diameter capability ranging from 0.25 inches to 2.0 inches. The bender must produce bends up to 180 degrees with precision and include a clear degree-of-bend indicator. The bender body and primary components must be constructed from high-strength steel with a shop floor mounting system designed for direct, secure installation to ensure stability and safety.
Tooling and accessories must include a comprehensive set of precision-machined dies, clamp blocks, and mandrels to accommodate all specified tubing diameters, conforming to aerospace standards. Storage must provide organized compartments, shadow-boxed drawers, or designated cutouts for tool accountability and protection. Training, documentation, and support requirements include a comprehensive operator's manual detailing setup, operation, die-changing procedures, and maintenance; a minimum three-year comprehensive system warranty covering all parts and labor for manufacturing defects; and accessible technical support for troubleshooting and operational questions.

Salient Characteristics: Hand Tubing Machine
1.0 General Requirements
This document identifies the minimum essential physical and functional characteristics for a new manual hand tubing bender system, hereafter referred to as the “Hand Tubing Machine.” The system must be a complete kit from a single manufacturer, designed for the high-precision fabrication and bending of aircraft-grade tubing. The system shall be capable of immediate, reliable performance in a ruggedized, industrial shop-floor environment. Any product offered must meet or exceed all specifications herein to be considered technically acceptable.
2.0 Mechanical & Bending Hardware
Feature Minimum Required Specification
System Model Must be equivalent to a heavy-duty, professional-grade manual bender (e.g., Parker 632 HD, Swagelok Heavy-Duty Bench-Top Tube Bender).
Bending Mechanism Manually operated via a lever arm to produce high-quality bends without wrinkling or collapsing tube walls.
Tubing Material Capability Must be capable of bending various tubing materials, including but not limited to stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and copper alloys.
Tube Outside Diameter (OD) Range
The system must include all necessary dies and components to bend tubing from a minimum of 0.25 inches (1/4”) to a maximum of 2.0 inches (2”) in outside diameter.
Maximum Bend Angle Capable of producing bends up to 180° with precision. Must include a clear, easy-to-read degree-of-bend indicator.
Construction The bender body and primary components must be constructed from high-strength steel for maximum durability and rigidity during operation.
Mounting System Must be designed for direct, secure mounting to the shop floor to ensure maximum stability and safety during heavy-duty bending operations.
3.0 Tooling & Accessories
Feature Minimum Required Specification
Die & Mandrel Set Must include a comprehensive set of dies, clamp blocks, and mandrels to accommodate all tubing diameters specified in Section 2.0.
Tooling Quality All forming dies and mandrels must be precision-machined to ensure smooth, accurate bends that conform to aerospace standards.
Tooling Storage The storage solution must feature organized compartments, shadow-boxed drawers, or designated cutouts for all dies, mandrels, and accessories to ensure tool accountability and protection on the shop floor.
4.0 Training, Documentation, and Support
Service Requirement Description
Operator’s Manual Must include a comprehensive operator's manual detailing setup, operation, die-changing procedures, and maintenance for all included components.
Warranty Must include a minimum of a three (3) year comprehensive system warranty covering all parts and labor for any manufacturing defects.
Support The manufacturer must provide accessible technical support for troubleshooting and operational questions.
