About this file

This document is a detailed Requirements Statement for a Tunable Laser Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) system for advanced scientific research. The system specifications mandate a fully automated picosecond laser light source capable of stimulated Raman scattering microscopy and producing squeezed light, with precise technical requirements including: a pulse width of 2-5 ps, OPO signal tunable from 700-990 nm, OPO idler tunable from 1080-1950 nm, signal beam power greater than 700 mW at 800 nm, and idler beam power greater than 400 mW at over 1200 nm.

Additional critical requirements include shot-noise limited performance, an integrated electrical-optical modulator at 20 MHz, a synchronized 1032-1064 nm output with over 5W power, integrated second harmonic generation producing frequency-doubled pulses at 80 MHz with over 800 mW average power, and a beam quality (M2) of ≤1.2. The vendor must provide a field service technician for installation and training, and offer a minimum one-year system warranty. The system is designed to cover the entire Raman fingerprint region (400-3000 cm-1) and perform microscopy at video rate speeds.

Tunable Laser Optical Parametric Oscillator Requirements

DESCRIPTION

Fully automated picosecond laser light source with temporally and spatially overlapped pump and Stokes pulse trains, with a tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that covers the full Raman fingerprint region. This system will be used for stimulated Raman scattering microscopy and for producing squeezed light.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS

- Must be capable of shot noise limited stimulated Raman scattering microscopy.

- Must be fully automated and all components must be integrated into a single system.

- The pump and Stokes pulse trains must have perfect temporal and spatial overlap.

- The energy difference between the pump and stokes must cover the entire Raman fingerprint region (400 cm-1 to greater than 3000 cm-1).

- Must be capable of stimulated Raman scattering microscopy up to video rate speed.

- The spectral bandwidth of the picosecond pulses must be 10 cm-1 or better.

- Pulse width must be 2-5 ps.

- OPO signal must be tunable from 700-990 nm.

- OPO idler must be tunable from 1080-1950 nm.

- The power of the OPO signal beam must be greater than 700 mW at 800 nm.

- The power of the OPO idler beam must be greater than 400 mW at > 1200 nm.

- The OPO signal beam must be shot-noise limited at 20 MHz.

- Must include an integrated electrical-optical modulator with a modulation frequency of 20 MHz.

- Must include an additional 1032-1064 nm output (with power greater than 5 W) and 80 MHz repetition rate that is synchronized to the primary OPO output.

- Must include integrated optics for second harmonic generation to produce frequency-doubled

1032-1064 nm (516-532 nm) pulses at 80 MHz, with an average power of greater than 800 mW.

- The M2 should be less than or equal to 1.2.

FIELD SERVICE, INSTALLATION, AND TRAINING

- The vendor must have a field service technician on staff to perform the installation, training, and to service the system.

- The vendor must provide a warranty on the system for at least one year.
