About this file
This is a Technical Specifications Sheet for a Horizontal Front-Loading, Internal Gas Quench Vacuum Furnace that must be brand-new and compliant with SAE Aerospace Material Specification (AMS) 2750G and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards 70, 79, and 86D.
The furnace chamber shall feature double-walled, water-cooled 304 stainless steel construction with an all-metal insulated hot zone and all-metallic shield pack. The usable work zone minimum dimensions are 12" (W) x 12" (H) x 18" (D) with a hearth capacity rated for a minimum of 250 pounds. Performance requirements include a maximum operating temperature of 2400°F (1315°C), maximum cleanup cycle temperature of 2500°F (1371°C), temperature uniformity of ±10°F at 1000°F, 1500°F, and 2100°F, ultimate vacuum in the 10⁻⁶ Torr range, operating vacuum in the 10⁻⁵ Torr range, and leak-up rate less than 5 microns per hour. The furnace shall include a vacuum pumping system with a mechanical roughing pump (minimum 35 SCFM), high-vacuum diffusion pump (minimum 6"), and holding pump with full interlock for automatic fail-safe operation; an internal gas quenching/cooling system with minimum 7.5 HP motor designed for 2 bar (15 PSIG) positive pressure using Nitrogen or Argon; a partial pressure system for Nitrogen and Argon gas processes; and a self-contained, closed-loop water cooling system with pump station (minimum 40 GPM capacity), power-loss diaphragm backup pump, and minimum two dry coolers with 460V controls. Control systems shall include an Allen-Bradley or equivalent Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) touchscreen display, data logging capability to verify temperature uniformity, and SCR-controlled hot zone power supply rated for minimum 65 KVA. The contractor shall provide a manual load truck, operator and maintenance training at no additional charge covering all furnace systems, and digital documentation including operation and maintenance manuals, component-specific manufacturer's manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings, and recommended spare parts list.

Technical Specifications Sheet:
Vacuum Relief Furnace General Requirements
• Furnace Type: Horizontal Front-Loading, Internal Gas Quench Vacuum Furnace.
• Condition: All components and materials used in the furnace must be brand-new.
• Compliance: The furnace system must conform to SAE Aerospace Material
Specification (AMS) 2750G and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards 70, 79, and 86D.
Technical Specifications
Chamber and Hot Zone
• Chamber: Double-walled, water-cooled, 304 stainless steel construction.
• Hot Zone: All-Metal insulated hot zone, to include an all-metallic shield pack.
• Usable Work Zone (minimum): 12" (W) x 12" (H) x 18" (D).
• Hearth Capacity: Minimum rated weight capacity of 250 pounds.
Performance
• Maximum Operating Temperature: 2400∘F (1315∘C).
• Maximum Cleanup Cycle Temperature: 2500∘F (1371∘C).
• Temperature Uniformity: ±10∘F at 1000∘F, 1500∘F, and 2100∘F.
• Ultimate Vacuum: Must achieve a vacuum level in the 10−6 Torr range (clean, dry, empty).
• Operating Vacuum: Must operate in the 10−5 Torr range.
• Leak-Up Rate: Less than 5 microns per hour.
Subsystems
• Vacuum Pumping System: vacuum system including a mechanical roughing pump
(min. 35 SCFM), a high-vacuum diffusion pump (min. 6"), and a holding pump. The system must be fully interlocked for automatic, fail-safe operation.
DRAFT
• Gas Quenching/Cooling System: Internal gas cooling system with a minimum 7.5 HP motor, designed for 2 bar (15 PSIG) positive pressure cooling using Nitrogen or Argon.
• Partial Pressure System: Must include a system for running processes under partial pressure of Nitrogen and Argon gas.
• Closed-Loop Water System: A self-contained, closed-loop water cooling system is required. The system must include a pump station with a minimum 40 GPM capacity, a power-loss diaphragm backup pump, and minimum two (2) dry coolers (fans) with 460V controls.
