About this file
This is a Bill of Materials (BOM) attachment for a federal procurement by the Maritime Administration's Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet (SBRF) for synthetic mooring lines used in nest-mooring ships in the National Defense Reserve Fleet.
The procurement specifies two categories of line products. The first category consists of high-performance synthetic mooring lines with specific technical requirements: minimum tensile strength of 79,600 lbs, 7/8" nominal diameter, maximum weight of 45 lbs per 100 feet, UV resistance, 12-strand HMPE fiber construction with USA-made fibers, abrasion resistance, low elongation, and torque resistance. Offerors must provide five reels of 600 feet in length and five reels of 400 feet in length, with a six-foot eye splice at one end and tubular cordura or similar chafing material installed in the eye. The second category requires six reels of 600-foot Samson 1-1/2" diameter HTP-12 or equal high tenacity polyester 12-strand line, which does not require splicing. All specified lengths are finished lengths. Offerors must submit technical data sheets for each line type attesting to the specified characteristics. Delivery is required to the US DOT Maritime Administration, Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, 2595 Lake Herman Road, Benicia, CA 94510, with Point of Contact Joe Pecoraro at Joe.pecoraro@dot.gov or (707) 747-7801.
