Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge
Background
Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Tyrrell, Hyde and Washington Counties, North Carolina manages wetland habitat to meet refuge purposes and wildlife goals and objectives as outlined in the refuge’s Comprehensive Conservation Plan. Water management is an integral part of managing the wetlands which are surrounded by perimeter dikes. This contract is for the purchase of water management infrastructure that is needed to replace damaged water control structures and a culvert and to improve management efficiency by replacing wooden stop logs with aluminum ones that are not prone to swelling, leaking, or damage from rakes and beavers.

2. Contractor shall fabricate water control structures with aluminum stoplogs, a culvert, and additional aluminum stoplogs with the dimensions and quantities as described in Table 1.
NOTE: The proposed combination of board heights is desired and preferred to give flexibility in water control. If contractor is unable to supply 8-in high boards, bids will be accepted with additional 6-in high boards to make up for the height that would be supplied by the 8-in boards.
