Building Renovation Project USDA-NRCS Hoolehua Plant Materials Center, Hoolehua, Hawaii

General Statement of Work

MARCH 2021

Two buildings at the Hoolehua Plant Materials Center (HIPMC) located at 4101 Maunaloa Highway, Hoolehua, Hawaii 96729, are in need renovation and/or remodeling. Several tasks were initiated by the previous contractor who failed to complete the project and the need remains. Overall conditions of the buildings need to be improved to increase the capacity HIPMC. This project will encompass [2] separate buildings to include:

o MAIN OFFICE o SEED CLEANING BUILDING

In the Main Office Building of the Hoolehua Plant Materials Center, the construction of the Manager’s office had been initiated, but not completed. The renovation of the Seed Building is also unfinished and requires the most attention. The steel roll-up doors are not functioning properly and continue to pose a safety hazard. The steel entry door of the Seed Laboratory Space is severely rusted and poses a security risk. The windows of the Seed Building are not functioning properly and could potentially lead to damage of HIPMC property due to weather conditions. The windows are also a security risk. In addition, the office area of the Seed-Building needs remodeling to be converted into a Seed Laboratory to increase HIPMC capacity for plant studies.

The following Scope of Work defines the minimum BASE SPECIFICATIONS for this project. Also listed is OPTION-1, which is in addition to the BASE SPECIFICATIONS. USDA-NRCS will determine if the inclusion of OPTION-1 is feasible depending on funding availability.
