About this file

This Statement of Work details preventative maintenance requirements for 19 Variable Frequency Drives at the USDA ARS Robert W. Holley Center. The VFDs are distributed across three penthouses: Penthouse A (10 VFDs), Penthouse B (9 VFDs), and Penthouse C (7 VFDs).

The maintenance scope includes initial system monitoring with oscilloscope testing, visual inspections of circuit boards and power assemblies, tightening of wiring connections, motor testing including Megger and inductance tests, cleaning of drive components, reassembly, functional testing, calibration checks, and programming verification. The contractor must provide detailed documentation of all findings and meet with the Facilities Operations Manager to review results. All services must be completed within 90 days after receipt of order (ARO). The work requires anti-static protection protocols for circuit boards and IGBTs, and all maintenance activities must follow manufacturer specifications for assembly and testing procedures.

SOW FOR VFD MAINTENANCE

I BACKGROUND

The USDA, ARS, Robert W. Holley Center requires preventative maintenance to be performed on (19) Variable Frequency Drives.

II. PREVENTATIVE MAINTANCE DESCRIPTION

LINE ITEM Description QTY Unit of Measure 1 Penthouse A- VFDS 10 EA 2 Penthouse B-VFDS 9 EA 3 Penthouse C-VFDS 7 EA

III. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.

1.Travel to and from the Holley Center.

2. Jobsite walk-through with Facilities Operations Manager, to visually inspect environmental conditions, applications, installations, and history of system. Recording all information, including full nameplate information of motor and drive.

3. Monitor system with an oscilloscope, running under normal load before starting maintenance.

Analyzing input, DC buss, output, voltage & current waveforms. Analyzing power supplies, speed reference, feedback device, control input, and control output voltage waveforms. Verify all for proper operation and record any abnormalities in the report. Record fault history in the report.

4. Tightening of all power and control wiring connections. Recording any abnormalities in the report.

5. Visual inspection of circuit boards, and power assemblies for deterioration & overheating, including removal of circuit boards for full examination of all sides. Anti-static protection for all circuit boards & IGBT’s must be continuously observed. Recording any abnormalities in report.

6. Visual inspection (removal of junction box cover on motor), high potential insulation (Megger) test, and inductance test of the wires from the drive to the motor, and the motor itself. Record all findings in the report.

7. Cleaning of drive enclosure interior, circuit boards, power circuit assemblies and entire heat sink with low-pressure compressed air, vacuum, and approved solvents. Cleaning requires disassembly of some power circuit assemblies, and circuit boards from drive interior.

8. Full reassembly of drive, observing proper techniques for assembly specified by the manufacturer in the drive’s service manual.

9. Perform a functional test in all modes of operation. During the functional test, perform a vibration test of all circuit boards, and wiring assemblies. Record all information in the report.

10. Verification by monitoring system with an oscilloscope, running under normal load after maintenance is complete. Analyzing input, DC buss, and output, voltage & current waveforms. Analyzing power supplies, speed reference, feedback devices, control input, and control output voltage waveforms. Verify all measurements for proper operation and record all information in report.

11. Calibration check of drive to factory specifications and application, including operational testing of the drive. Recording any abnormalities in the report.

12. Review of adjustments/programming and recording any abnormalities in the report.

13. Complete written report of findings including recommendations.

14. Meeting with Facilities Operations Manager to discuss maintenance and reviewing report.

IV. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

Services will need to complete 90 days ARO.
