STATEMENT OF NEED

FOR

RADIO SYSTEM

27 May 2025

GENERAL – PART I

1. General: This statement of need (SON) defines the scope of equipment specifications to provide a qualified radio system. The system will allow maximum mission execution and effective communication access in a deployed location (TDY). This communication is required for safety and allows Top 3 supervisors the ability to troubleshoot emergency procedures with airborne and on-ground aircraft. In addition, these radios will provide essential flyover control timing during events support by the squadron.

1.1 Scope: Unless otherwise identified herein, the contractor shall provide all equipment and charging capabilities for the equipment specified. The contractor shall provide radios as defined in this

Statement of Need.

1.2 Equipment: Contractor shall provide the following:

1.2.1 Two qualified radio systems, Military Global Positioning System

- Minimum of 5-Watt output power

- Full spectrum 30-512MHz Transmit and receive capabilities in both Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and Variable High Frequency (VHF) spectrums

- External speaker and push talk capabilities

- Multi use rechargeable battery

- National Security Agency (NSA) type 1 encryption capabilities

- Submersible to a minimum of 5 meters

- Compliant with the MIL-STD 810F

- Ability to attach to a military standard headset that provides ambient noise protection

- Warranty of repairs and replacement for minimum 2 years

1.2.2 Two Battery Pack, Rechargeable, 7.0 Amp-hour lithion

1.2.3 One two-by battery charger handheld battery capable of a minimum 7.2 Volts of output voltage

1.2.4 One Cable assembly with USB, PDA-184 compatible with radio

1.2.5 One Cable assembly, audio/key fill capabilities compatible with radio

1.3 Delivery: The Radio System is to be shipped to the 49FTS, 47 Timeline Blvd, Building 234, Columbus AFB, MS 39710

1.3.1 Shipping 30 days after date of contract (ADC)
