Statement of Need (SON)

USSOCOM Military Adaptive Sports program (MAS)

Rugby Wheelchairs

1. Summary of Requirement:

USSOCOM Warrior Care Program (Care Coalition) Military Adaptive Sports (MAS) seeks to improve the health and welfare of wounded, ill or injured Special Operations Forces (SOF) through adaptive sports and wellness activities. USSOCOM Military Adaptive Sports (MAS) is in need of customized Rugby Wheelchairs to provide their team additional training opportunities to compete in competitions like Warrior Games and Invictus Games while building team comradery.

This requirement is for defensive and offensive rugby wheelchairs along with extra wheel sets and spare parts. Defensive and offensive wheelchairs have generally the same specifications except for the type of front bumper rail. Offensive chairs are built for speed and mobility and have wings to prevent defensive chairs from hooking it, while defensive chairs are built to hook and lock players in place keeping them from scoring and assisting their teammates on the court.

Delivery must occur within 300 days of receiving an award and chairs must be delivered with frames assembled.
