About this file
This is a specifications document for two hydraulic tracked masticators required by the Bureau of Reclamation's Socorro Field Division. The specifications detail equipment designed for land clearing and vegetation management, with each unit featuring hydraulic-powered mulching capabilities mounted on tracked chassis for terrain versatility. Key specifications include operational requirements for the masticator heads, hydraulic systems, engine performance, and track mobility systems necessary to meet the Bureau's land management objectives in Socorro, New Mexico.
The document establishes technical requirements covering engine horsepower ratings, hydraulic flow and pressure specifications, cutting head dimensions and rotational speeds, fuel capacity, and operational noise limitations. Additional specifications address cab features, safety equipment, maintenance accessibility, and performance standards for processing various vegetation types and sizes. These specifications serve as the basis for evaluating potential vendors and manufacturers in the accompanying Sources Sought Notice, allowing interested contractors and equipment suppliers to determine their capability to provide two units meeting these technical standards for federal acquisition.
