About this file
This is a Requirements/Specification Document for High Power Balanced Photodiodes from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The document details the procurement of 3 high-performance photodiodes for the Communications Technology Laboratory's Radio Frequency Technology Division, with specific technical requirements including DC-20 GHz operation, >15 GHz 3-dB bandwidth, dual single-mode fiber inputs, 2.92 mm RF output connector, and >0.3 A/W responsivity. Key specifications include >50 mA continuous wave photocurrent, <100 nA typical dark current, metal packaging, high linearity, and 16 dBm output RF power.
The acquisition is currently in a Sources Sought phase, seeking market research to determine potential vendors and assess small business set-aside opportunities. The requirement is classified under NAICS code 334413 with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees. Interested companies are invited to submit 5-page capability statements including company profile, product details, specification sheets, lead times, and small business status. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified, NIST will pursue a small business set-aside procurement. The delivery deadline is set for October 1, 2025, with the shipping address located at NIST-Boulder in Colorado.
