About this file
This document is a specifications sheet for a federal procurement of laser engraving and cutting equipment by the USDA-ARS National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) in Corvallis, Oregon.
The NCGR requires a single dual-source laser engraver/cutter combining a 60-watt CO₂ laser and a 30-watt fiber laser to support germplasm conservation, inventory management, and facility operations. The equipment must deliver industrial-grade engraving and cutting capabilities for both metal and non-metal materials without requiring workpiece transfers between machines, operate within a unified software and hardware environment, and include an integrated camera positioning system for precise placement of engravings on tags, labels, and custom materials. The work area must measure a minimum of 24 inches × 24 inches to accommodate large batch production of accession labels, greenhouse signage, and educational displays. The vendor must be capable of sourcing replacement parts and providing professional service within three business days. Delivery is required within 30 days after receipt of order to USDA-ARS NCGR, 33447 Peoria Road, Corvallis, OR 97333. The procurement quantity is one unit.

Specifications Project: Dual Source Laser Engraver/Cutter
1.0 Background:
The USDA-ARS National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) in Corvallis, Oregon, is part of the National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) and is responsible for acquiring, preserving, characterizing, documenting, and distributing genetic resources of berry crops, hazelnut, pear, hops, mint, and associated crop wild relatives. The repository maintains more than 40,000 living plants in greenhouses, screenhouses, lath houses, container nurseries, and field collections. Effective management of these collections requires durable, weather-resistant identification systems, equipment labeling, research support materials, facility signage, and custom-fabricated components used throughout the repository’s operations. A Dual Source Laser Engraver/Cutter will support critical germplasm conservation, inventory management, research, and operational activities.
