About this file
This is a specifications document for equipment procurement by the USDA-ARS Water Quality and Ecology Research Unit at the National Sedimentation Laboratory in Oxford, Mississippi.
The document outlines detailed technical specifications for procurement of a Systec DX-90 benchtop front-loading autoclave. The autoclave must have a 90-liter chamber volume with external dimensions not exceeding 75 cm (width) x 63 cm (height) x 97 cm (depth) to fit existing laboratory space. The equipment requires 208V, 3-phase power and must feature a horizontal, front-loading configuration with a hinged, pressure-locking door and automatic safety interlocks. The cylindrical pressure vessel must have a smooth interior for easy cleaning and accommodate large flasks up to 3000mL Erlenmeyers, soil containers, culture vessels, and wrapped loads. The autoclave must operate across a temperature range of 100-140°C with operating pressure up to approximately 3.8 bar, maintaining temperature stability of ±0.3°C or less. Required features include an integrated vacuum system, active rapid cooling system, integrated steam generator, flexible temperature sensor located in the system housing for direct monitoring, and on-board USB capability for cycle data download. The procurement includes delivery, installation, technician training, and shipping costs. This equipment will support soil and water quality research and sterilization operations at the National Sedimentation Laboratory.

SPECIFICATIONS
The USDA-ARS Water Quality and Ecology Research Unit in Oxford, MS, is seeking an autoclave that provides the combination of an integrated vacuum system, rapid active cooling, and vacuum drying. The detailed specifications are necessary to ensure rapid processing of the sample load at the National Sedimentation Laboratory to complete mission-critical work. While rapid processing of this system is a necessity, the accuracy it provides for a variety of cycles will greatly enhance our sterilization capability. Upon successful procurement and execution, system must be delivered, installed, and technicians trained in use.
